Bail set for accused shoplifter charged with intoxication manslaughter

HOUSTON - The La Porte woman accused of killing a mother and injuring a teen in a crash arraigned Thursday morning on intoxication manslaughter charges.

Police say Robby Jo Hovis, 28, was drunk on Sunday and stole items from a Walmart in Pasadena. When she tried to get a way, officers say she ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle killing 50-year-old Anita Benton and injuring Benton's 14-year-old daughter.

Hovis is now prohibited from driving.

Her bail was set at $30,000.
