HOUSTON - An alleged armed robber was shot and killed after attempting to hold up a family-owned convenience store at gunpoint.
On Friday around 10:30 p.m., the man entered the store at 9142 Scranton Street
According to police, he pointed a shotgun at the owner's daughter behind the register and demanded money.
The owner then pulled out his handgun and told the man to leave, but the gunman turned and pointed the shotgun at the dad instead.
Investigators say that is when the owner's son ran over, grabbed the gun from the dad and shot the intruder multiple times.
The man died at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
There were no other injuries during the incident.
