1 firefighter injured battling 2-alarm blaze at SW Houston townhomes

HOUSTON - One firefighter was injured Friday morning battling a 2-alarm fire at a southwest Houston townhome complex, according to the Houston Fire Department.

The fire broke out at a complex in the 8300 block of Wilcrest near Spice Lane around 7:35 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to find one unit heavily involved in fire. They brought it under control about 8:33 a.m.

At least six units were damaged.

The townhome where the fire started suffered heavy fire damage. The others sustained smoke and water damages.

The injured firefighter was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for observation only.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Traffic in the area of Wilcrest and Beechnut was expected to be congested for several hours until crews clear the scene.
