Texas Junk Co. may have your last-minute Houston Rodeo gear

HOUSTON - By the name of the store, you wouldn't think Texas Junk Co. has much to offer to the Houston Rodeo.

But if you're a rodeo-goer who still hasn't found that perfect pair of boots, it's the place to be.

Owner Robert Novotney has been in the business for more than three decades. His store has all sorts of cowboy gear in stock, but the second-hand boots are the most popular items. He travels across Texas to find them.

"I woke up at 5 in the morning to a full moon, was at the flea market in Waco by 7, and I was done by 9:30," Novotney said. "I went 500 miles and got one pair of boots."

From bright yellow boots to your average brown boots, Novotney carries it all.  The average price ranges from $50 to $100.

"I mean I've got cheap fashion boots that are selling for $25," Novotney said.

Just remember, whichever boot you choose, Novotney says make sure they're comfortable.

Texas Junk Company is at 215 Welch St. and it's usually only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Be sure to call the store at 713-524-6257 to make sure it's open.

Novotney says he only accepts cash or a check.
