HOUSTON - A father's deep love for his children, the NFL's reigning MVP, Vikings superstar, Adrian Peterson is feeling the full weight of that love and grief this weekend, as he deals with the vicious, beating death of his 2-year old son.

"My God, losing a child in that way, I don't even know where to start," that's what former Houston Texans offensive lineman Chester Pitts is saying.

Pitts has known Adrian since before the running back joined the NFL, when he was playing football at Oklahoma.

Chester said men don't come any tougher than Peterson, saying he will get through this with help from his faith.

"I think he'll take this day to grieve, but, and I would bet my house on it. He will play in Sunday's game and he'll play Sunday just for one reason, to be with the men he knows love him the most", Chester said.

As the man accused in the brutal beating of Adrian's son, Joseph Robert Patterson, is officially charged in this case, stars from all over the sporting world are offering heart-felt support to Peterson.

J.J. Watt of the Texans tweeted, "Thoughts are with you and your family."

Lebron James of the Miami Heat sent a tweet that read, "My deepest condolences go out to Adrian Peterson and his family. Sending prayers up for you homie."

In Houston Friday night, former Texans defensive lineman Travis Johnson called Peterson a man who follows God's path.

Johnson has five kids, including a 2-year old son, just like Peterson.

"You know Adrian is a better man than I am," Johnson said, "You know, I almost lost my little daughter when she was four, and that was just because of a sickness, and you know, my heart oh. I couldn't do anything about it and then for someone to actually take your child's life, that's sad man. I admire the way Adrian has handled all this. If someone hurt my kid, I'd kill 'em."

Right now, the man accused in the death of Peterson's son is being held on $750,000 bond, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
