Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson reacts to White House visit

HOUSTON – It’s been a busy 24 hours for Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson.

On Tuesday, he reported for his first even NFL mandatory mini-camp and yesterday, he was in Washington D.C. being honored by the president of the United States.

Watson and fellow Texans rookie Carlos Watkins reunited with their Clemson football team to be recognized at the White House for winning the 2017 College Football National Championship.

“We had a great time, it was good to see my old teammates and coaches. Being able to get honored at the White House is always huge. We had a great visit,” Watson said.

During the ceremony to honor Clemson, President Donald Trump called Watson down to the podium where the two shook hands and Trump made it clear, he’s a big fan of the new Texans quarterback

“Deshaun Watson is (going to) be a great NFL player, watch. You better believe it he’s (going to) be fantastic.”

While some athletes have declined an invitation to the White House after winning a National Championship, Watson says he never thought twice about it.

“It was on my bucket list. The White House visit was awesome. I had a great time with my teammates. There weren’t any second thoughts,” Watson said.
