Texans, offensive coordinator George Godsey agree to part ways, team says

HOUSTON – Just two days after the Texans most successful season under head coach Bill O’Brien, the team has mutually agreed to part ways with offensive coordinator George Godsey.

“I’m grateful for the tireless work ethic and contributions George has made to our team over the last three years,” O’Brien said. “I wish him nothing but the best in the future."

The team advanced to the divisional round of the playoffs after winning the AFC South for the second consecutive season, but their offense struggled throughout the season.

The offense ranked 28th in the league in points scored and 29th in yards gained. Their 23 offensive touchdowns scored were the fewest in the NFL.

Godsey joined the Texans, along with O’Brien prior to the 2013 season and also handled quarterback coach responsibilities.

O’Brien and Godsey shared play-calling duties, according to O’Brien.
