HOUSTON - Two teens are still shaken up and scared to leave home after being robbed and carjacked at gunpoint outside a church in east downtown Houston, according to one teen's parent.

Freischealsea Aguilar said she stayed home from work Monday to comfort her 14-year-old daughter. Aguilar said her daughter and her cousin are both having a tough time, having repeating visions of what happened outside the church.

The teens had just left youth group at the Guadalupe Church on Navigation Boulevard when they got into a family member's car and said someone knocked on the window, asking for the time and then pulled out a gun.

"They pulled the gun out and told him (the cousin) to get out of the car they made him get on the ground and my daughter got on her knees," she said.

Aguilar said the suspects stole the teens' phones, pointed guns at other children and then stole their vehicle.

"It makes me mad and it makes me think that I can’t take anything for granted for their safety," she said.

The church's Parishioner, German Hurtado said, "I was surprised and shocked that something like this would happen outside of church especially when there is a lot of community and family."

The parents filed a police report and notified the church, but so far, there are no leads on the suspects. They are hoping someone will recognize the vehicle, a gray 2016 Nissan Murano with tag JBK7518.

When asked how Aguilar's daughter is doing, she said, "She's been very shooken (sic) up; she has been crying a lot and she just doesn’t even want to talk about it."

Aguilar said she is grateful they can replace what was lost.

"I still believe that God was with them," she said.
