Teenage boy dies in crash while brother was driving, deputies say

HOUSTON – A teen boy was killed in a crash Wednesday when the car his brother was driving slammed into a guardrail in northwest Harris County, deputies said.

The crash was reported about 10:30 p.m. on State Highway 249 near Beltway 8.

Harris County deputies said the 15-year-old boy was riding in a car being driven by his 17-year-old brother when the driver lost control. They said the speeding car spun around, hit a sign and then crashed into a guardrail on the exit ramp.

Deputies said the boy died at the scene. They said his brother suffered serious injuries and was taken to Ben Taub Hospital for treatment.

Investigators said alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and the cause is still under investigation.
