HOUSTON - A Physical education teacher and soccer coach at Looscan Elementary School was beaten with a baseball bat during practice on Wednesday.

The attack happened after school in a nearby park. Several students were outside and saw it happen.

"The teachers were terrified, everybody was running," said Melissa Banda, who came to pick up her daughter at the school. "They hit him to the point where they dropped him on the floor."

The coach has been a teacher in the Houston Independent School District for more than 20 years, but has only worked at Looscan for one.

He received six staples in the back of his head, has bruises all over his body and a swollen ankle.  He told Local 2 the worst part was the kid's witnessed the attack.

The suspects reportedly walked up to the coach and said they didn't like the way he was speaking with the students, then pulled out an aluminum bat.

The coach said he was hit and kicked at least ten times.

Police arrested two teens, one an 18-year-old Moises Granados who is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

The second suspect is only 15-years-old. His name was not released because of his age.

Investigators said the teens also stole the coach's wallet.

"I'm worried now, I didn't want to send my kids to school today," said Banda.

Banda's fifth grade daughter got tears in her eyes just thinking about the coach.

"I cried too," Banda said.

Other students who play on the coach's soccer team said they were dedicating Thursday's game to him.

The school is now increasing security around campus.  The principal sent a letter home with students telling parents the park will now be closed to the public during school hours, and more police officers will patrol the area before and after school.

"I think we just need more security," said Banda. "More cops, more HISD officers and more constables."
