SWAT called after Montrose man points gun at police

Armored vehicle used to break down door

HOUSTON - A SWAT standoff is over and a suspect is in custody after police were called to a home in the Montrose area.

Around midnight Monday morning HPD received a complaint about loud music coming from a residence.

According to investigators when they arrived at the location they found John Castorea with a gun inside the home and say he became upset and actually pointed the gun at one of the officers. That's when police backed off and called for SWAT.

Once negotiators got there, they tried to use loud speakers to urge him to come out.

An armored vehicle eventually broke down the front glass door, and that's when Castorea agreed to come out.

He's been charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.
