Store surveillance video shows men pushing, shoving, threatening 2 employees

HOUSTON - Two armed robbers who followed an employee through the front door of a north Houston Family Dollar store remain at large, police said.

Authorities said the armed robbery took place at 9:40 p.m. on March 19, at the 9419 North Freeway Family Dollar location.

Surveillance video shows the gunmen sat inside their car for about an hour before robbing the store. The two men concealed themselves in thick clothing.

"This is probably not the first time they've done this," said Frank Heenan of the Houston Police Department. "I'd say they're in 10 to 15 minutes inside that store. That's a long time, it really is."

The manager is seen on video with a gun pointed at his head. He fumbles at one point to open the register and when he finally does, he's thrown to the ground.

"The way they're acting, you just don't know what these guys are capable of," said Heenan.

Next, the men want in the safe. One guy rattles the safe and when the female employee approaches, he threatens her.

During all of it, there is never a clear view of the robbers' faces in the video, but Heenan said some clues can be seen.

"There are a few clues. They both wore bright shoes, one red, the other blue. One of their jackets is recognizable. Someone knows who these guys are," said Heenan.

About 13 minutes later, the robbery is over and neither employee was seriously injured. Police said no customers were in the store at the time of the robbery just before closing time.

A third man driving a getaway car is not seen on the video, Heenan said. All three perpetrators are so far unidentified.

Heenan said he's convinced the robbers will strike again unless police find them first.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
