Sugar Land playground fires believed to be arson

Two playgrounds were set on fire just minutes apart

SUGAR LAND - Firefighters in Sugar Land are investigating fires at two playgrounds, both appear to have been intentionally set.

The first fire was reported at a community playground on Briarwood and Avondale Friday night.

Only the metal poles were left after the fire was extinguished.

A second fire started at a playground on Saber and Elkins just 15 minutes later.

Firefighters were able to get there quickly so there wasn't as much damage to the play equipment.

The fire marshal is investigating both cases.
