Students, drivers face massive flooding in Spring

Highest point along Old Cypress Wood

SPRING, Texas – Spring Independent School District had its last day of classes Thursday, and the parking lot at Twin Creeks Middle School was overwhelmed.

"I got the 10 inches of rain in two hours," one person said.
The highest point was along Old Cypress Wood. Cypress Creek swelled over, which left drivers stranded.

Lauren Westbrook has lived there for more than 40 years.
"It's concerning me enough," Westbrook said. "I've lived here 41 years. I've never had a problem and now I'm thinking about getting flood insurance."

"There was water up to my knees at that point," Stephanie Smith said.

Smith parked near the door, which was the best she could do to keep safe. She even put a sign on her windshield.

"I don't know why it keeps raining. It keeps waiting. People were waiting for it to stop, but it wasn't going to stop," Smith said.
