HOUSTON - Sunday's storms caused a lot of damage around Houston and the surrounding areas.

Mike Whitting said the storms caused a huge tree in his front yard to fall on his house in northwest Houston.

According to Whitting, he and his family were watching TV in the family room when they heard a loud boom.

"We came back out and my son said the tree was up and we looked out and looked in my daughter's room, and the tree was completely in their room," said Whitting.

Whitting said he is thankful everyone is his family is okay. He and his family are staying in a hotel, saying his next step is to call his insurance company.

The storms also caused major damage in places like Friendswood, where lightning struck a tree and another tree snapped and fell on a car.
