Stolen truck found crashed in store

HOUSTON – A driver smashed a pickup truck into a northwest Houston store presumably in an attempt to burglarize it, police said.

Houston police said a stolen pickup truck crashed into the store on Yale near Delz about 5:45 a.m. Friday.

An officer on patrol spotted the pickup truck halfway into the building, but the driver was gone.

Detectives said they suspect the driver was trying to steal the store's ATM. It was bolted to the ground and didn't move an inch in the crash, police said.

The store was closed at the time of the incident, but it was open Friday during the cleanup.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
