Stolen iPhone leads investigators to robbers, deputies say

Three men with rifles charged inside a family’s home demanding to see inside a safe they didn’t actually have, officials said.

According to deputies, the three men carrying rifles must have had the wrong house number when they charged into the home demanding to get inside a safe, which was non-existent.

The men arrived to the home at the end of the block of Pecan Lane around 10 a.m., and when they realized there was no safe to rob, they took the woman’s purse and cellphone and left, authorities said.

However, what the alleged robbers didn’t realize is that the woman could track her iPhone’s whereabouts, according to officials.

Deputies said they arrived at the scene and tracked the iPhone back to a home on Kenlake Drive 15 minutes away.

Deputies surrounded the home on Kenlake Drive and found three men inside, according to authorities.
They detained all three men for questioning.
