HOUSTON - Houston police have arrested three people in connection to several robberies.

Monday afternoon, Houston police loaded up the car behind a wrecker they said was stolen in an aggravated robbery several days ago.

Officers loaded up bags of evidence collected from inside the car. Police said a chase started when they were searching for a possible robbery suspect. Officers said the suspects bailed out of the stolen car. A man and a woman were quickly arrested.

Police said one man ran to the Sheffield Square Apartments near Memorial Drive and Eldridge in west Houston where he was arrested after a police dog found him.

Sources said evidence ties the two men to five robberies along Terry Hershey Park.  It is unclear what, if any, role the woman played. Houston police said it's too soon to confirm any connection.

They asked that we not show the suspects' faces until charges are filed.

"They had taken his keys, his money clip with about $40, credit cards, his ID and an iPhone," said Scott Johnston who lives near the trail.

"They were estimated to be about 20, although they had their faces obscured," said Johnston. "And they each had automatic handguns and they demanded his money and everything and they told him to walk away east and so that's what he did. My house happened to be the first one he came to."

The Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office said this is one of five serious crimes reported in the last month. The most disgusting crime, last Friday, a woman was raped after she walked into a park restroom on the trail at Eldridge. No one would confirm if the suspect in the rape case is believed to be in custody.

The Houston Police Department's Robbery Division was trying to locate a possible robbery suspect, when that suspect drove off in a vehicle that was stolen a few days ago.

No charges have been filed.
