Sleeping teen shot after gunman fires into house multiple times, police say

HOUSTON – A 17-year-old boy was shot while he slept in his home in north Houston, police said.

A gunman drove to the house on Cresline Street and Bauman Road at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday and fired several shots through the front window and wall, according to police.

According to police, a black four-door sedan - possibly a Chevrolet Prizm or Cruze - stopped in front of the home and the gunman fired into the residence multiple times.

The teen was asleep on the couch in a front room and was hit in the right knee by one of the bullets. He is expected to survive.

Police said two other children and their parents were also inside at the time. They were not hurt.

“There have been no problems with anybody," said Detective S. Ragsdale, with Houston Police Department Major Assaults Division. "The family doesn’t know why this would’ve happened. Nobody has had any problems with anybody lately."

There is no word on a description of the shooter.
