Several students injured in crash involving Clear Creek ISD bus in Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE, Texas – Four high school students were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a Clear Creek Independent School District bus was involved in a crash.

The bus collided with at least two other vehicles at the intersection of El Dorado and El Camino Real near Clear Lake Intermediate School.

Deputies said a 27-year-old man was traveling north on El Camino Real when he ran a red light and hit the bus as it was traveling through the intersection.

According to a spokesperson for Clear Creek ISD, 34 students and the driver were on the bus at the time of the crash. The students, who were on a late arrival schedule, were headed to Clear Lake High School.

The four students were taken to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center alert and did not suffer serious injuries, the spokesperson said.

The 30 other students who were unharmed in the accident waited at a nearby Clear Lake Intermediate school for a second bus to  pick them up and take them to Clear Lake High School.

The 27-year-old man was found to be at fault and was taken to Clear Lake Regional Hospital to be treated for a minor head injury, authorities said.
