HOUSTON - Three northwest Harris County schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday while DPS troopers searched for a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a child.

The Department of Public Safety said it was executing a warrant for Travis Earl Campbell, 32, in the 2700 block of Jorent Drive shortly after 10 a.m. When a trooper knocked on the door, Campbell fled through a back door.

Officers set up a perimeter in the neighborhood for a search. After about an hour, the search was called off and Campbell was not located.

Hill Intermediate School, Caraway Intermediate School and Stovall Academy in the Aldine Independent School District were placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdowns were lifted shortly after 11 a.m.

DPS officials said Campbell was wanted on a felony charge of indecency exposure of a child.
