#SagerStrong: Dwight Howard hosts blood drive to support TNT's Craig Sager

HOUSTON – Rivalry gets benched when it comes to the loved sideline reporter who spoke exclusively with KPRC in September.

"I'm lively, I'd feel very dull if I had a black or navy suit on," NBA reporter Craig Sager said.

The unifying "Sager strong" message is sweeping the NBA right now in support of Craig Sager's ongoing fight with leukemia.

Sager recently disclosed he could have as little as three to six months left to live but vowed to remain on treatment in order to fight that diagnosis. He's been seeking treatment at MD Anderson since last May.

"Wearing these crazy suits and has this great attitude all of the time, becomes like somebody's very good friend," Houston Rockets, Dwight Howard, said.

That's the reason Dwight Howard is hosting a blood drive outside of Toyota Center Wednesday.

"We all love Craig and we're thinking about him and hope in some small way to help in his journey but this is an opportunity for us to give back to the people in the Gulf Coast," Tad Brown, Rocket's CEO, said while donating blood.

As a matter of fact, the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center says they need thousands of donations every single day.

"So, this is a great opportunity to bring awareness that people can come commit for life, not just today but every day out of the year," Joshua Buckley, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, said.

Everything the donors give stays right inside of our community.

"It's all about trying to give. The best thing you can do is give," Dwight Howard said.

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center has blood drives every day all over the city. To find a blood drive near you, visit giveblood.org.
