Rockets trying to work out trade for Carmelo Anthony, reports say

HOUSTON – The Rockets may not be done dealing just yet as speculation continues surrounding the Rockets and Knicks talks involving a trade for Carmelo Anthony.

The New York Daily News quoted a source saying, and using a football term, that the two sides are “on the 2-yard line.”

For a few weeks, rumors of a Rockets marriage with Anthony has been in the works, with both sides trying to work a deal but it’s not easy to pull off.

What does help is that Anthony has said he is willing to waive his no-trade clause for Houston or Cleveland.

At this point, the focus has been all on the Rockets. If this deal is done, Anthony would be reunited with his former Knicks and now Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni. That relationship was not healthy at the end, but reportedly they have patched things up.

To get the deal done, it will likely require one or two additional teams to move multiple players and contracts.

Friday, the Rockets are planning to introduce Chris Paul at a news conference and fan rally at Toyota Center.
