Rockets fans hit stores to scoop up gear for postseason run

HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets will play the Toronto Raptors Friday night.

Rockets fans are anticipating an 18th consecutive win, which would automatically land the team a spot in the playoffs.

At Academy Sports + Outdoors on the Southwest Freeway, store director Patrick McKee said he has noticed a slight increase in merchandise sales.

James Harden and Chris Paul jerseys have been selling the most, according to McKee.

The store director said he believes fans might be holding off on splurging on merchandise until the team gets into the playoffs.

“They wanna make sure they ensure maybe a postseason run,” McKee said. “And for the most part they are buying, but I think they are kinda standoffish to kinda make sure they are gonna be in the postseason.”

The 17-game winning streak is the franchise's longest since their 22-game winning streak the team had during the 2007-08 season.
