HOUSTON - Back-to-school means waking up early, homework and a host of new challenges. Soon your student will probably be asking for someone to just cut them a break.

It turns out many retailers already are. They're offering discounts just for students. In most cases, all you need is a student ID.

Present a student ID at Ann Taylor to get 15 percent off regular-priced merchandise.

Teachers and students get the same savings at Banana Republic, J. Crew and Madewell.

On the tech side, almost every computer company offers student pricing. Save up to $200 on a new Mac and $30 on an iPad with Apple's Education Pricing.  Now through Sept. 9, if you buy a Mac for college, you'll get a $100 Apple store gift card. You'll get a $50 gift card when you buy an iPad.

Lenovo's Academic Purchase Program gives kids K through 12 and college students discounts on laptops, tablets and desktop computers. Now through Sept. 6, Microsoft is giving college students $150 off its Surface Pro 3. And registering for Hewlett Packard's HP Academy will get students K through 12 and college up to 20 percent off online.

Most of the deals are for college students, but students 16 and up can get discounts to movies and lots of retailers by registering for a Student Advantage Discount Card. You can sign up online for $22.50 for the first year and $10 to renew each year after.
