HOUSTON – If you’re hooked on the Astros Playoff series, chances are you will be hitting one of Houston’s killer sports bars, such as the Skybox on Westheimer Road, this week.
But this week, the Skybox struck out with Houston health inspectors.
The Houston Health Department reported finding slime in the ice machine.
In fact, inspectors said the machine would need to be quarantined.
Why is slime such a sore spot with restaurant inspectors?
“The slime may not kill you, but if they are not cleaning that machine as often as possible, there could be other things going on there that could be harmful,” Larry Goodman, sanitarian with the Houston Health Department, said.
At Cafe Europe, at 2711 Fountain View Drive, restaurant inspectors also found slime in the ice machine and ordered that the machine be cleaned.

Up next, it’s Puro Norte Botanero at 101 E. Little York Road, where inspectors discovered a mixture of brown slime and black residue.
A total of 1,200 pounds of ice was immediately condemned and thrown away.
All righty then, enough with the slime. Let’s move on to cockroaches.
Restaurant inspectors found them at Fresh Boba on Bellaire Boulevard -- dead roaches, to be exact, scattered on the floor at the cooking station.
Restaurant workers were given the order to eliminate all roaches.
Pests were also found on the premises of Hartz Chicken Buffet at 14302 Westheimer Road.
The Health Department ordered the restaurant to “provide effective measures to eliminate rodents, flies, cockroaches.”
And this week our congratulations go out to the hardworking crew at The Burger Palace on Sage Road in the Galleria area.
The eatery specializes in gourmet hamburgers and beef brisket, all made with top quality Akaushi beef.
They win our A-Plus Award for knocking out a perfect, spotless restaurant inspection report, and that demands a gourmet-burger-and-fries booyah!
