Rescuers save deer on ice

WALTHAM, Mass. – Rescuers saved two deer stranded on ice in Massachusetts Friday.

WCVB.com reported that when Massachusetts Environmental Police, Waltham fire and the Animal Rescue League were called to rescue one deer on Stoney Brook Basin, a second stranded deer was spotted on the Cambridge Reservoir.

Crews managed to coax the first deer off the ice, but the second deer was still stranded.

A news helicopter above the scene showed two men in a raft reach the second deer. A bag was placed over the animal's head and its feet were tied to help calm it for the move to dry ground. The raft was safely pulled to shore with the deer on board.

There's no word on the deer's condition.
