Rain tapers off Monday night, dryer weather in store for Houston

HOUSTON – A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through 1 a.m. Tuesday for areas west and north of Houston. Parts of Grimes, Austin and Colorado Counties received over six inches of rain since Sunday, prompting flood advisories and flood warnings.

The good news is that the rain will taper off from west to east through Monday evening, so additional flooding is not likely.

Temperatures will remain mild overnight. Tuesday morning lows will be in the mid 50s throughout most of the area.

Isolated light showers are possible east of Houston and along the coast during the morning commute, but the majority of Tuesday will be dry. Skies will stay cloudy and temperatures will warm into the mid 60s.

The remainder of the week promises mostly dry and seasonably warm weather, with highs finally breaking 70 degrees by Thursday. The upcoming weekend looks warm and dry, too, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 70s.
