Questions raised about Deputy Goforth witness in new documents

HOUSTON – New documents filed in the Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth homicide investigation raise specific questions about one of the witnesses at the crime scene.

Defense attorney Anthony Osso said he is concerned about a woman who said she witnessed the killing of Goforth. She's the same woman who told investigators she had a romantic relationship with the deputy.

Osso said he wants to know whether that woman was at the scene when prosecutors arrived, and if not, then why not.

Earlier this week, the lead investigator in the Goforth case, Sgt. Craig Clopton, was fired, accused of having a sexual relationship with that same female witness.
