Police: Women steal $10,000 worth of items from store

WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, Texas – Police are searching for two women who stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a boutique.

West University Place Police said the women walked into French Cuff in the 4000 block of Bellaire Boulevard on July 28 and walked out with about $10,000 worth of items, but they didn't pay for it.

Detectives said the thieves looked experienced.

"They were holding the bags under their arms in a way that takes a little bit of practice," Officer Phil Clark said.

The women were in the store for more than 20 minutes, police said.

The women took all sorts of merchandise, including jewelry.

"Ninety-nine-point-nine-nine percent of the people that come into our store are wonderful people and deserve wonderful customer service," store owner Kairy-Tate Barkley said. "We're trying very hard not to be skeptical and nervous about everyone that comes into the store."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
