Police: Woman steals own car

HOUSTON - A woman has been accused of stealing her own car.

Houston police said Elma McKay's car was impounded on Monday night, so we went to a storage lot to get it out.

Investigators said McKay, 52, talked her way past employees and to her car. She then drove away without paying the fine, officials said.

One of the employees realized what was going on, called police and followed McKay, police said.

Officers said they caught up with McKay along the North Freeway and tried to get her to pull over, but she refused.

Police said they boxed McKay in along the North Freeway near West Mount Houston and were able to take her in to custody.

McKay has been charged with driving while intoxicated, evading arrest and auto theft.
