MISSOURI CITY, Texas - Missouri City Police say Stephanie Politte was in her bedroom when her husband, Daniel Politte, shot her in the head.

Investigators tell Local 2 that Daniel actually called 911 to report his wife was having a medical emergency Wednesday night at the home on Green Cottage Lane.

"EMS and fire arrived along with police officers and determined the actual victim had suffered a gun shot wound to the head," said Paul Poulton with the Missouri City Police Department.

Stephanie, 29, was a special needs teacher at the Monarch Institute in Houston, and she was also an actress at several theaters in town include the Stage Door Inc. and Pearl Theater.

Investigators wouldn't speculate on a motive and said when the arrested Daniel at the home, he didn't say very much.

"Right now that is still under investigation and it's undetermined as to what may have caused this," Poulton said.

Neighbors who live in the typically quiet community are stunned.

"Completely shocking. Just was home all day, didn't hear or see anything," Susan Prins said.

The director of the Monarch Institute released a statement Thursday afternoon which read, "Stephanie Kirkpatrick Politte was a brilliant, loving, talented individual who made a difference in the lives of many children and families. This is a huge loss for our community and we are keeping her family in our thoughts and prayers."

The Ft. Bend County Sheriff's Office says Daniel Politte is charged with murder. He's free after posting $125,000 bond on Thursday evening.
