Police seek violent felon in man's death

GALVESTON, Texas - Police are asking for the public's helping in finding a person of interest who had been driving a victim's car after a fatal assault.

According to authorities, Juan Navarro, 59, the owner of Panaderia Navarro Bakery, was assaulted on Jan. 26th. Investigators said his vehicle was stolen from his business after the attack.

It happened at 3801 Broadway.

Navarro was rushed to the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he died around 8:00 p.m.

Police said they located the vehicle near the intersection of 37th and Ave M on January 27th.

Investigators said they determined that Harold Norwood, a person of interest in the homicide, had been in possession of Navarro's vehicle following the assault.

The Galveston Police Department said it has obtained a warrant for the arrest of Norwood for the offense of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The warrant carries a bond of $250,000.

The Galveston Police Department is seeking any information on the whereabouts of Norwood. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Galveston Police Department at 409-765-3702 or Crime Stoppers at 409-763-TIPS (8477).

Authorities said Norwood is a known violent felon and people are advised to use caution if they are in contact with him.
