Police search for food store robber caught on camera

SUGAR LAND, Texas - Sugar Land police have released surveillance video of a masked man wanted in a food mart robbery.

According to police, the owner said at around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday a masked man entered the WB Food Mart at 13003 West Bellfort Blvd., displayed a pistol and demanded money from the register and a shoe box located under the counter. The man ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.  There were no customers in the store and the owner was not injured.

"I asked, 'What you doing? Take your mask off. That's not funny.' He pulled a gun, came towards me, said, 'Lay down on the ground.' I said, 'No. I'm not going to lay down on the ground,'" said the robbery victim, who is part-owner of the store. "I think if they get caught, it will be nice. But the guy looks like he was high on drugs. It was a good thing I was here so nothing happened. If somebody else was here, much worse."

The suspect was a heavy-set black man who was around 5 feet 10 inches and weighed 220-240 pounds.

He was wearing black shorts with white stripes, high-top shoes that were not laced up, a black hoodie shirt and a Halloween mask.
