Police release new video of drive-by that killed a baby

HOUSTON - New video that shows a drive-by shooting that killed a baby was released on Wednesday.

Forever Donatto, 1, was fatally shot on Ponnel Lane near Ellington Street about 3 a.m. on Aug. 19.

Houston police said the shooters originally tried to break into a nearby house.

"The men fled after not being able to get into the house," said Sgt. Ryan Chandler with HPD Homicide. "After they fled, we believe these same two men came back to the house and committed a drive-by shooting."

According to detectives, the shooters used crowbars to get past burglar bars, but left when they realized the homeowner was inside and armed.

Minutes later, a car carrying four adults and Forever pulled into the driveway of the home.

"Right as they pull in, the dark colored SUV drives by and fires several shots," Chandler said.

One of the bullets pierced Forever's car seat and instantly killed her.

"I think they became mad because they couldn't make their way into the house and get whatever it is they wanted. So, in the process of fleeing, they decided to take one more shot at the house," Chandler said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
