Victims live in Fort Bend County

MISSOURI CITY, Texas - Police arrested two men who they believe are responsible for multiple car break-ins in Missouri City and the surrounding area.

A witness reportedly spotted the two Wednesday morning breaking into a car in front of a day care center.

That witness notified police who spotted the suspect's car in the 9900 block of Highway 6.

Missouri City police arrested 23-year-old Damien Mathis and 18-year-old Ray Hicks. Inside the car, investigators said, were a lot of stolen items including a bag and credit cards.

Investigators told Local 2 the case is still under investigation because the duo may be linked to more thefts all around Fort Bend County.

The targets have been cars left in parking lots and strip malls; the victims have their doors locked but the burglars are getting in by breaking a window and stealing valuables.

"I never do that," said Kimberly Amos. "It's just not safe."

Amos said she heard about the recent rash of break-ins and that's why she is always extra careful.

"It's happening a lot more often in this area than it has in years prior," Amos said. "You need to be cautious."
