FRIENDSWOOD, Texas - An officer checking out a suspicious vehicle ended up arresting a man and opening a child sexual assault investigation.

Friendswood police said an officer spotted a suspicious vehicle parked at 1776 Park in the 200 block of Imperial about 12:45 a.m. Thursday. The park closed at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

When the officer approached, Alfred Villareal Garcia Jr., 39, and a 16-year-old boy got out of the passenger side of the car, officials said. Garcia and the teen are not related, police said.

The officer searched Garcia and found an open condom, investigators said.

Garcia's vehicle was searched and police said the officer found a clear glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamines, a blue glass pipe, several baggies containing methamphetamine and cocaine residue, and a baggie that contained about half a gram of cocaine.

Garcia was arrested and the teen was interviewed and released to his mother.

Investigators said they are investigating Garcia's contact with the teen and what contact he has had with other teen boys in the past.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective David Brechtel at 281-996-3345.
