Couple's apparent murder-suicide in Dickinson under investigation

DICKINSON, Texas – Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Dickinson.

League City police were called Wednesday to a home in the 3100 block of Misty Isle just before midnight.

Neighbors said a divorced couple was involved in the family tragedy.

Police identify the deceased as Brian Grimes, 53, and Kathleen Grimes, 54.

A neighbor said the Grimes had been married for more than 30 years before the divorce.

"She came over to my house and she was talking to me and my wife yesterday. Real nice. I had a good conversation. Nothing out of the ordinary that would be like this. It's a tragedy it happened,” said neighbor Lawrence Gomez.

Police found the two bodies inside the home. Brian Grimes was found with multiple gunshot wounds near the closet of a bedroom. Kathleen Grimes, who was found in the same bedroom, had a single gunshot wound.

"He's just a very good man. (A) kind-hearted person and he's helped me move stuff around my home. He knows people around here," Gomez said. "He would always give a hand and just a kind person and he'll be definitely missed a lot, especially from me and I'm just sad to see this happen.”

Neighbors said the couple was in the middle of moving out and was loading their belongings into a moving truck when the incident happened.

They said the Grimes and their teenage daughter once lived at the home, but the man and daughter had recently moved out.

Neighbors believe the daughter was not home at the time.
