Stephanie Irene Santana faces multiple charges

HOUSTON - Police arrested a 20-year-old pregnant woman early Wednesday morning after getting a call from employees of a tattoo business.

Police said they found Stephanie Irene Santana passed out behind the wheel of her car in front of Dago's Tattoos along the North Freeway just before 3 a.m.

Santana wandered into the business asking for either a tattoo or piercing, investigators said. Police said employees feared she was too intoxicated, so they turned her away, but not before overhearing that Santana left her 1-year-daughter outside in the car by herself.

Detectives said employees followed Santana into the parking lot and called police. Police said officers found Santana passed out behind the wheel of her car. Beer bottles and Xanax pills were found in the car, along with the woman's child, police said. The child was not hurt.

Investigators said Santana failed a field sobriety test.

Police said Santana will face charges of driving while intoxicated, child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.

Harris County court records show Santana was already on probation for theft charges at the time of her arrest.
