HOUSTON - Police arrested a driver after officers said he led them on a 15-minute chase through southeast Houston.

It started around 1:15 a.m., when an HPD unit spotted someone driving erratically on Reed Road and Cullen.  According to reports, when the officer attempted to pull the truck over, the driver sped off.

Police said the suspect drove north on Highway 288 to Dixie, made a u-turn and headed back south on 288 to Orem, where he made yet another u-turn and headed north to the South Loop.  Apparently he exited Scott, drove to Bellfort, then Cullen, and finally back to the South Loop.

When he got close to the Loop, he pulled into a parking lot and stopped before running over some grass.  Officers said at that point they managed to take the driver into custody.

A female passenger who was also in the truck at the time was not hurt and was later released.

Police haven't determined why the driver sped off in the first place.

The suspect's identity was not immediately released.
