Pieces of Astrodome get new homes

HOUSTON - Some pieces of the Astrodome are in the hands of new owners.

People who purchased the seats from last month's auction were allowed to pick them up Monday morning.

Earlier this year, the Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation decided to being selling seats, turf and equipment from inside the Astrodome.

The line to pick up the items at Reliant Park formed much earlier than the 9 a.m. start time. Viewers told Local 2 that some people got in line as early as 3:30 a.m.

With crowds much larger than expect, officials opened the gates at 4 a.m.

"I really wanted these because they're sentimental and a part of history," said Joey Dutton.

If you pre-paid for a seats at the Astrodome yard sale and auction or have a green ticket, you can pick up your items at Reliant Park on Tuesday and Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
