SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas – The Holcombe and Hill families are mourning the loss of eight family members today.

A relative of the family tells KPRC 2 sister station KSAT that John Holcombe was in church Sunday morning with his pregnant wife, Crystal, and her four children, parents and brother and sister-in-law.

Crystal Holcombe was a widow and remarried John Holcombe. She was about four months pregnant expecting their first child together. She was found deceased inside the church.

The children, 13-year-old Greg Hill, 11 year-old Emily Hill, and 8-year-old Megan Hill, were killed inside the church as well.

Six-year-old Evelyn Hill was taken to University Hospital and is now in stable condition.

John Holcombe was released from University Hospital Sunday night after suffering injuries from shrapnel.

John’s parents, Bryan and Karla Holcombe, were also killed inside the church, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, whose names have not been released.

The eldest Hill child, PJ, did not attend church with the family because he was home sick.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for the family.

Annabelle Pomeroy

Pastor Frank Pomeroy and Sherri Pomeroy were out of town when the gunman opened fire.

The wife of the First Baptist Church pastor says it gives her "a sliver of encouragement" that their 14-year-old daughter was surrounded by her church family when she died in the shooting.

Sherri Pomeroy says Annabelle Pomeroy was with "the church family that she loved fiercely and vice versa."

Speaking at a news conference Monday, Sherri Pomeroy said, "Our church was not comprised of members or parishioners. We were a very close family." She added: "Now most of our church family is gone."

She said that her daughter, who she called Belle, would have struggled to deal with losing so many people.
