Pastor found dead in North Houston apartment garage, deputies say

Deputies: Victim belonged to Christian ministry group called CARE

NORTH HOUSTON, Texas - An investigation is underway after Harris County deputies say a pastor was found dead in the garage of a North Houston apartment complex on Ella Boulevard.

The 53-year-old pastor was discovered Saturday afternoon at the Mariposa Apartment garage by a neighbor who was walking a dog.

The Harris County deputy who responded to the scene said the man appeared to be suffering from a head trauma.

Emergency Medical Services pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Investigators are now waiting for the autopsy to determine the cause of the victim's death.

A witness told investigators about a dark-colored pickup truck they saw earlier Saturday. The witness reported seeing the victim and the driver talking but they didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Later on that day, the witness told investigators about a loud bang that sounded like someone or something had fallen.

Deputies said the victim belonged to a Christian ministry group called CARE. The group is for members who are 55 years of age or older. CARE also operates out of the apartment complex where the victim was found dead. The ministry group was setting up for a garage sale Saturday.

Currently investigators do not know the cause of the victim's death. They are currently trying to recover the surveillance video from the apartment complex.
