Parker, Emmett give update on Saturday's severe weather

Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and Houston Mayor Annise Parker gave updates on weather preparations and conditions Saturday afternoon at Houston TranStar's headquarters.

Emmett said that there are no disaster declarations at this time but the situation will continue to be monitored. He said four tornadoes have touched down in the region, but none of them caused serious damage.

Bayou levels have risen, but can handle up to five inches, Emmett said.

Parker said to expect 8 to 12 inches of rain and localized street flooding. No major events have been cancelled but officials urged residents to stay at home.

Harris County officials have transitioned to "Increased Readiness."
