Parental influence on your lifespan, health

Your parents could have a big influence on how long or healthy you live.

A new British study has found people whose parents live far into older age are likely to have longer and healthier lives.

The study observed nearly 200,000 people and found your chances of survival increased 17 percent for each decade, past the age of 70, that at least one parent lives.

Having longer living parents also decreases your risk of developing chronic illness like heart disease, stroke, and cancer in older age.
