Painter creates art with mouth after electrical accident

KCRA – A 20-year-old quadriplegic man in Sacramento, California is expressing his creativity by creating paintings using only his mouth.

Jordan Soto first took up painting as a hobby during his recovery from a devastating electrical accident in Mexico. He was just 8-years-old when electrical wires shocked him, leaving him without working arms or legs.

"Anything you want to do is possible," Soto says. "If you want to paint you can paint, if you have one arm, two arms, no arms, if you want to paint you're going to paint because you want to."

Sotos's unlikely success relies on a focused coordination between his mouth, a brush, and the canvas. It is reinvigorated Soto, giving his life new focus.

Soto gained admission to Shriners Hospital after a woman with children receiving care there heard his story.

He has since received prosthetics for both his arms and legs, and gets ongoing care every few months for his electrical burns.
