One person killed after trench collapses near Manvel

HOUSTON – One person is dead after a trench collapsed Monday afternoon in Manvel.

Contractors with Jaho Paving and Utility were digging a trench around 15 feet in the ground in order to install a sanitation sewer in a new subdivision near Highway 6 and Savannah Parkway. 

One of the walls collapsed and Noe Reyes was covered in dirt. Co-workers jumped into action, digging Noe out of the dirt. 

CPR was performed by co-workers, but Reyes, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Occupational Safety and Health Adminstration is investigating.
