2 men escape in gray Toyota Corolla

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is searching for two men who shot and killed a man during a home invasion Saturday morning in Acres Homes.

“He's the back bone of his son and his other son so we're in shock,” Cassandra Scott said.

They said in shock after the violent death of George Edmond, 36, who was a husband and father. Homicide investigators told KPRC Channel 2 the victim's wife was in the house during the time of the shooting and saw the entire incident.

“I heard some gunshots and I heard my daughter scream,” said Scott.

This woman said she ran over to the home on Willow Street near Esther Drive.

“I saw my son-in-law laying there. Still warm, but we knew he was gone,” Scott said.

Police said two men walked up to Edmond's home and knocked on the door.

“When they were denied entrance, they kicked the door in, burst into the house and fired at least one or two shots at the male occupant of the house,” HPD Sgt. Matthew Brady said.

Investigators said Edmond ran to a neighbor’s house for help.

“He then ran out, collapsed at the neighbor’s house behind us on the porch,” Brady said.

The gunmen got away in a gray Toyota Corolla, leaving Edmond dead. Police said he shot at least once in the torso.

Scott said they don't know who would want to hurt him.

“He's the sweetest person,” Scott said. “He'll help everyone, do everything for anyone.”

Homicide police have not found a motive, but said the victim knew the gunman and suspect the shooting may have been drug related.
