Off-duty Houston firefighter arrested for DWI, placed under administrative review, officials say

An off-duty Houston firefighter, Servanio Vasquez Jr., was arrested overnight and charged with driving while intoxicated.

HOUSTON - An off-duty Houston firefighter was arrested overnight for driving while intoxicated, Houston police said.

Investigators were called to the area of Washington Avenue and Katy Freeway on a report of a minor accident, police said. The driver, identified as Servanio Vasquez Jr., 27, had struck a light pole, police said.

Investigators moved the scene to a nearby Chevron gas station on Washington Avenue where a field sobriety test was conducted, police said.

Vasquez has been charged with driving while intoxicated and was held on a $500 bond, according to court records.  

The Houston Fire Department said Vasquez has been with the department for four years and will be placed under administrative investigation for the charge.
