Nine students listed on Crosby Middle School bathroom wall threat

CROSBY, Texas – Harris County Precinct 3 constables are investigating a threat written on a bathroom wall at Crosby Middle School, Crosby ISD officials confirmed Friday.

Details were not specified, but Dr. Keith Moore, Crosby ISD superintendent, said the names of nine students were included. Moore said those students are safe and their parents have been notified.

The school district published a statement to its Facebook page Friday, notifying parents of the threat and adding, "CMS staff is on high alert for any suspicious activity." The note also acknowledged pranks often come near the end of the school year "but we take every threat to our students’ safety seriously."

Dismissal Friday carried on without holdup. Still, students and parents said word of the threat is alarming.

"I was actually kinda scared [because] I didn't feel safe in my school environment anymore," said Jaden Grandberry, a student at Crosby Middle School.

Superintendent Moore told KPRC2 he has decided to prohibit backpacks on campus until the last day of the school year next week, as a precaution.

Parents and other concerned adults applauded the district's response.

"It's kind of shocking, especially in today's time. You got to take it seriously every time it comes up," Scott Austill said.
